Mumbai Central, previously Bombay Central, is the 5th down railway station from Churchgate on Western Railway Line of Mumbai Suburban Railways. There are different platforms at Mumbai Central station for up-country trains.
Mumbai Central serves as the southernmost terminus in Mumbai for Western Railway outstation trains. Trains depart from here to Delhi, Gujarat, Punjab and Rajasthan. India's premier Rajdhani and Nizamuddin (Rajdhani) trains depart from here for Delhi. Other famous trains include the Gujarat Mail, Karnavati and superfast complete A.C. Shatabdi Train forAhmedabad, the Avantika Express forIndore and the Golden Temple (formarly Jammu Tavi Express) super fast express train for Amritsar. All the fast local trains for churchgate and vice-versa hault here.
The station provides access to Tardev and Kalbadevi areas.
